Wensu Block is located in Wensu County and Aksu City, Aksu District, Uygur Autonomous Region, Xinjiang. It is located in the northwest of Tarim Basin, covering an area of 1,086.26 square kilometers. Oil and gas exploration in this region began in 1965, and the exploration has made no breakthrough for more than 50 years. In 2017, Wells 1 and New Wen 2, deployed and implemented by the Oil and Gas Resources Investigation Center of China Geological Survey of the Ministry of Natural Resources, achieved high-yield industrial oil flow for the first time, achieving a major breakthrough in the new oil and gas investigation in the new district. In response to the requirements of the national oil and gas reform pilot, Zhongman Group won the exploration right of the block for 866.7 million yuan in January 2018.
After obtaining the exploration right, Zhongman Group was registered in Wensu County on March 6, 2018, and established Aksu Zhongman Oil and Gas Exploration and Development Co., Ltd., and successively completed the tax registration and bank account opening. From April 2018 to February 2019, the 3D seismic collection and processing work of 377 square kilometers was completed in the southern part of the working area, laying a high-quality data foundation for the later structural interpretation and exploration and deployment.
Location map of 3 D seismic data collection area of 377 square kilometers In 2019, the structural pattern of "two belts and one ridge" in the Wensu block was defined for the first time using three-dimensional seismic data, and found that a total of 105 square kilometers in the reservoir area, and the exploration field of the area was broad. From 2019 to 2020, over 39 exploration wells and evaluation wells had been deployed and completed around the "two belts and one ridge", and 73 layers of 34 oil & gas wells had been tested, all achieved high-yield oil and gas flow and made significant progress in exploration.
From June to August 2020, after on-site investigation and expert review, The New Report on Proven Oil and Gas Reserves of Neogene Jidike Formation in Wen 7 Block, North Wensu Oilfield was approved by the State Reserve Commission. On September 9,2020, The Ministry of Natural Resources issued “a Reply to the Mineral Resource Reserve Review and Filing on the New Report of Proven Oil and Gas Reserves of Neogene Jidike Formation in Wen Block 7, North Wensu Oilfield”, and Zhongman Group became the first private enterprise to pass the review and filing of the report of newly proved reserves of oil and natural gas in China. Newly added proved oil content area of 8.39 square kilometers, proven petroleum geological reserves of 30.11 million tons, new proven dissolved gas geological reserves of 304 million square meters, gas reservoir area of 2.23 square kilometers, and natural gas geological reserves of 449 million cubic meters. Crude oil production capacity of nearly 80,000 tons / year has been formed through trial production. In 2021, a total of 120 new wells were drilled. 118 wells were successful, the success rate of new wells is 98.3%, a total footage of about 230,000 meters, the new geological reserves of oil and gas are 15 million tons, the annual output of oil is 175,000 tons, and the 300,000 tons / year crude oil production capacity will be built by the end of the year. On August 31,2021, the Ministry of Natural Resources issued Oil and Gas Exploitation License of North Wensu Block, Tarim Basin, Xinjiang.
The Wensu block covers an area of 1086.26 square kilometers, with a trap resource of nearly 100 million tons. Currently, the proven petroleum reserves are 30.11 million tons. There is still great exploration potential near the oil source direction in the northeast of the block. In 2020, new discoveries were made in the eastward expansion of the F1 fault zone, which confirmed the good oil and gas exploration prospects in the Hong-11 well area. According to the exploration plan, North Wensu Oilfield will have an annual production capacity of 500,000 tons in the next five years. With the eastward expansion of F1 fault zone exploration, the progress of F2 fault zone exploration, and the discovery of three-dimensional exploration outside the area, it is expected to build a medium-sized oilfield with an annual production capacity of more than one million tons.
